The All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of Arunachal Pradesh, Luizinho Faleiro, said that the BJP has debarred the State from infrastructural development and 90-95% of the State’s grant share has been also withdrawn.

He said this during the two-day Sangharsh Sammelan organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) which came to an end at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday evening.

Faleiro also strongly condemned the BJP Government at the Centre for ‘misleading and misguiding’ the people of the State with fake promises and slogans.

Stating that the Congress Government had introduced the Panchsheel treaty for non-interference in others’ internal affairs and respect for each other’s territorial unity integrity and especially as the financial assistant to Arunachal Pradesh for its developmental activities, Faleiro said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already insulted people of Arunachal while signing MoU with the China, where Arunachal was shown as disputed area.”

Grants related to border roads and national highways have also been withdrawn since the BJP government took over at the Centre, he said, while adding that the BJP government had robbed the Congress of its mandated candidates in Arunachal.

“The people of Arunachal have lost development activities and job opportunities in the State,” Faleiro said and felt that the Congress needs young and dynamic leaders to take on the BJP in the upcoming 2019 Assembly election.

Accusing the BJP-led Government of corruption and ordering 36 Rafale planes at a much higher price than what was negotiated by the Congress, he said: “For a long time we have been talking about corruption in the Rafale deal, on pricing, choice of contract partner and the manufacturing place.”

He further encouraged the state’s Congress leaders and workers “not to reverse the dedication that the people of Arunachal Pradesh have for Congress” and bring back the party back to power in state.

Highlighting the party’s development activities, APCC president, Takam Sanjoy said that a charge-sheet would be initiated in matters related to Trans-Arunachal Highway.
