Vice chancellor of the Majuli University of Culture, Dambarudhar Nath inaugurates the academic programme of the new sports university in Dibrugarh on Thursday

Vice-chancellor of the Majuli University of Culture, Dambarudhar Nath on Thursday said that the newly instituted Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University in Chabua in Dibrugarh district will play an instrumental role in changing the sports scenario in Assam as well as India.

The university was established in 2018 after the Assam Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University Bill was passed in the state legislative assembly.

Nath said this while inaugurating the new university’s academic programme of ‘postgraduate diploma in sports coaching” in the Dibrugarh University campus on Thursday.

Nath conveyed his best wishes to the first batch of students of the Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University on the occasion.

VC of the sports university, JP Verma explained the various academic programmes to be launched by the university in the near future.

The new PG diploma course has been started in athletics and football.

The purpose of this programme is to produce trained coaches who can be absorbed in different government and private sector organizations in future.

The classes for the university will be conducted at the Centre of Physical Education of Dibrugarh University.

The university has prepared several academic programmes in the area of physical education, sports and Yoga, which shall be launched shortly.
