CM Sarbananda Sonowal releasing books published by Assam Police in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday released two books published by Assam Police highlighting its journey over the years at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.

The book–‘Assam Police- The journey through changes and challenges’ throws light on the successful journey of the state police force and various challenges faced by it.

The other book titled ‘An Analytical Glimpses on Road Accidents of Assam’ puts forth an in-depth analysis of road accidents that have taken place in the state.

Chief Minister Sonowal appreciated the initiatives of Assam Police and said that the publications would help the people to understand the challenges and to acquaint themselves with the successful journey of the state police force in solving cases.

He also stressed on the need to make the books available amongst students so that they become aware about the functioning of Assam Police and draw inspiration from them.

Sonowal also lauded the state police in dealing with the cases related to women safety and security.

He highlighted the Assam Police’s role in arresting the accused who made outrageous remarks on facebook against the widow of martyr Sunil Kalita from Kashmir braving stiff challenges from local people.

He also emphasised on the role of Assam Police in dealing with corruption and improving relations with common people.

Chief minister’s media advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy and DGP Kuladhar Saikia also spoke on the occasion.

Chief minister’s legal advisor Santanu Bharali, MLA Dilip Paul and Bimal Bora, director general of home guards A. K. Sinha Kashyap and several other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
