Assam recorded its eighth COVID-19 death, the second fatality on Friday, with the death of a 50-year-old man from Baksa district.
Mantu Ramchiary, who was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after testing positive for the virus, passed away on Friday afternoon in the hospital .
Earlier in the day, a Covid-19 positive woman from South Assam’s Hailakandi, died at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
The 53-year-old woman, a resident of Bakrihower Part I in Algapur area, was a cancer patient.
She had recently gone to Delhi along with her son for treatment.
Earlier, a total of six COVID-19 patients in the state died of the deadly decease.
