Tushar Tayal from Army Public School, Tezpur has topped the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class XII examinations from Guwahati region, the results of which were declared on Thursday. He has also clinched top rank in eastern India. Tushar’s all India rank is 5th.

Tusharl secured 99 per cent by scoring 495 out of 500. He got A1 in all the subjects, including additional subject. Tushar got 100 in accountancy, economics and psychology, sources said. He secured 98 in English, 97 in business studies and 99 in physical education.

He attributed his success to his “mother Sangeeta Tayal and father Ravindra Kr Tayal besides the teachers of his school.”

Tushar studied regularly to understand instead of memorizing. He now wants to pursue commerce in Delhi University and MBA after completing B.Com.

Imcharenla Longchar from Delhi Public School, Guwahati clinched second rank scoring 494 out of 500 in while Anubhav Palash Baishya from Gurukul Grammar School, Guwahati secured third rank in Guwahati zone. Anubhav secured 492 out of 500.

Under Guwahati region, which comprises eight northeastern states including Sikkim, 64.41 per cent students passed successfully.

The Guwahati region has witnessed a four per cent dip in pass percentage compared to last year. CBSE officials said this year the pass percentage is 64.41 per cent, against 68.30 per cent in 2018.
