Oil India Limited(OIL) has assured a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of Sukleswar Nego and a job to his wife as well.
Further, OIL also assured that it would take responsibility for the education of Neog’s daughters.
Sukleswar Neog (45) died by suicide by consuming pesticides and his body was recovered from 300 metres of the relief camp in which Neog and his family had put up.
Neog committed suicide for alleged mental harassment caused because of the blowout in Baghjan oil well and the delay in finalizing compensations.

Under Baghjan Gaon Milanjyoti Yuva Sangha, locals staged a protest by blocking the road from the well site since Saturday demanding compensation for Neog’s family.
Over 200 personnel from OIL, ONGC, Alert, Schlumberger and other contractors working at the site including OIL directors were not allowed to go out of the site after completing their work.
After a prolonged effort of OIL, the protesters removed the barricade.
Talking to Northeast Now, president of Baghjan Gaon Milanjyoti Yuva Sangha Satyajit Moran said, “We have blockade Baghjan well road demanding compensation for Neog’ family and compensation for those who have lost their houses in Baghjan fire.”
“The Tinsukia district administration has told that they will provide Rs 5 lakh to the family but we have demanded proper compensation for the family because the person has lost his agriculture and his resident,” Moran added.
