Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday, once again clarified that COVID-19 situation in the state does not call for lockdown.
“There is no situation of a lockdown in Assam yet,” Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
However, the Assam chief minister added that wearing masks is a must for all people in the state.
“Wearing a mask is a must,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Meanwhile, he also said that the Assam government is serious about the “no vaccine no entry” initiative to curb the spread of infection.
“Those not fully vaccinated will not be allowed to enter public places like district courts, hotels, markets etc,” said Sarma.
Only fully vaccinated people (people who got two doses of vaccine) will be allowed in places that draw sizeable number of crowd.
“Other than hospitals, non-vaccinated people will be allowed entry into public places,” added the Assam chief minister.

Notably, Assam in the past couple of days have reported big COVID numbers with positivity rate over 7 percent.
