They are – Mohammed Imtiaz Ali, a resident under Mayong PS, his son Mohammed Mafizuddin and Mohammed Ahmed Ali, a resident of Jarigaon.

Jain said that all the seven arrested people would be sent to the jail and the minor girl has been sent for medical examination.

SP Jain said, “The whole 48-hour operation was directed and monitored by additional SP (HQ), DSP (HQ), the circle inspector of Daboka and the officer-in-charge of Hojai PS.”

“We are thankful to Morigaon superintendent of police Swapnaneel Deka, additional SP Sibasish Bora and Mayong OC for co-operating with us throughout the mission,” the SP said.

The Hojai SP further said, “Many organisations created panic like situation, demonstrated against us and gave us a deadline of 48 hours to rescue the girl and nab the culprits.”

“But we are not God that everything will happen in a second. We are also human beings. We do our duty as per the proceedings and inputs.”

Hundreds of Hindu Jagran Mancha (HJM) volunteers on Monday staged protest in front of the Hojai police station and gave the police 48 hours to rescue the Hindu girl and nab the youth who allegedly kidnapped her.

Hindu Jagran Mancha termed it a case of ‘Love Jihad’ and demanded that quick action be taken by the police.
