“Let peace return,” said Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga moments after the Assam government revoked its earlier travel advisory.
Mizoram CM Zoramthanga added: “Thank you Government of Assam.”
The Assam government, on Thursday, revoked its travel advisory dated July 29, which advised people from Assam to visit Mizoram.
The July 29 travel advisory of the Assam government had said: ““Given the critical prevailing situation, the people of Assam are advised not to travel to Mizoram as any threat to personal safety of people of Assam cannot be accepted.”

The travel advisory has been revoked hours after the Assam and Mizoram governments agreed to find a lasting solution to a century-old inter-state boundary dispute through bilateral discussions, following a ministerial-level talks between the two states.
Representatives of both the State governments held a meeting in Aizawl on Thursday, ten days after the violent clash that took place near Lailapur in Assam’s Cachar district and Vairengte in Mizoram’s Kolasib district.
Assam minister Atul Bora, who headed the delegation from Assam, said that both the states have agreed to maintain peace along the inter-state border.
“Both states have welcomed deployment of neutral forces in the disputed areas and agreed not to send their respective police forces for patrolling, domination, enforcement or fresh deployment of state forces in any of the areas where confrontation and conflict has taken place between forces of the two states in recent times,” Atul Bora had said.

The Assam and Mizoram governments also agreed to take forward the initiatives taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and chief ministers of both states to de-escalate the prevailing tension.
The Mizoram government delegation was headed by state home minister Lalchamliana.
