Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that some powers are conspiring to defame India’s image associated with the tea industry.
Modi on Sunday arrived in Dhekiajuli in Assam’s Sonitpur district, where he inaugurated road projects worth Rs 7,700 crore under the Asom Mala scheme and laid the foundation of two medical colleges in Biswanath Chariali and Charaideo.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Modi said, “We have come across certain documents that reveal that certain foreign powers are conspiring to defame India’s image associated with the tea industry.”
“They have stooped so low in their evil motives that they are not even sparing our tea industry and we will never allow this to happen at any cost,” Modi.
Modi also urged medical students to pursue their medical studies in the local Assamese language.
“Can’t medical education imparted in the local language create good doctors? Now that another six medical colleges are coming up in Assam, lessons should be imparted in Assamese,” said Modi.
The Prime Minister also said that major highways of the state will be developed under the Asom Mala scheme that will improve the transport network, connecting all villages with urban areas.
