The camels were taken with a team of veterinarians and handed them over to the officials of Rajasthan government.

After a month, the five camels which were seized by police in Assam’s Darrang district have finally reached Rajasthan.

The state veterinary and animal husbandry department has sent the camels to Rajasthan with the help from the Peoples for Animal.

The five camels reached Rajasthan on Monday.

“The camels were taken with a team of veterinarians and handed them over to the officials of Rajasthan government,” an official of the veterinary department said on Tuesday.

A total of six camels were seized by the police from Mangaldai and adjoining areas on August 9 last.

The locals alleged that the camels were illegally brought to Assam for slaughtering on the eve of Bakar Eid.

The camels were kept at Mangaldai and Dhula police stations since their seizure.

However, one of them died a few days back as it failed to cope up with the weather condition here.
