A shocking incident of cow lifting came to light at Demow’s Sukafanagar in Sivsagar district in the wee hours of Friday, when an Indica Vista vehicle fell into a ditch beside a road from which three cows were recovered.

According to sources, the villagers reached the spot when they heard a loud noise and found miscreants who were trying to get the vehicle out from the ditch.

But the miscreants fled the scene immediately when they saw the villagers.

Later, the villagers recovered three cows from the vehicle and immediately informed the Demow police.

Demow Police seized the vehicle (Registration No AS-01BE-0740) later, which was as per reports registered under Kamrup District Transport Office in the name of one Rajesh Kumar Singh.

Though police searched for a long time, they were unable to catch the thieves.

Locals urged the Demow Police officials to establish a police check point at Sukafanagar since various illegal activities along with cow lifting incidents happened in the region.
