Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday launched a web portal for the entrepreneurs with the aim to showcase and sell their products online.

The online shopping portal meghamart.com will provide various categories of products and services.


The portal will provide space to the entrepreneurs to sell honey, bamboo products, beauty products, handloom, rice, coffee, traditional jewellery, tea, smoked meats and dried fish products.

The portal will focus on showcasing the ethnic products of northeast India. Various spices, food products, beauty products and daily essentials will also be available.

As the tagline of the site suggests the best of northeast at your doorstep, the portals is sure to stand out as a leading online shopping site of the region.

The portal will also provide business opportunities. An entrepreneur can easily register their business on the site to expand their sales.

Several enterprises in Meghalaya have already come forward to avail the online branding and sales platform.

So far Shillong Bamboo, Countryspices, Smoky Falls Tribe Coffee, Saiñhun Farm, Nela Handloom Training Centre cum Production Unit, Clocks, Blessiness Enterprise, Savourit, Ecocraft, Flavia Candles, Pizza Barn and Wild Heart Campers have signed up with the portal.

Recognizing the effort of entrepreneurs in providing employment and transforming the livelihood of the state Meghalaya government has instituted a programme to award and to foster the spirit of enterprise in Meghalaya.

Meghalaya Entrepreneurship Recognition Award (MEG-ERA) which also aim at bringing forth the micro-enterprises in creating a social and economic impact.
