SP of Cachar district in Assam – Vaibhav Nimbalkar, who was seriously injured during Monday’s clash along the Assam-Mizoram border, is reportedly recovering fast. 

Nimbalkar was airlifted to Mumbai on Tuesday where he is undergoing treatment. 

The SP suffered a femur fracture and was flown to Mumbai on board an Indian Air Force special aircraft. 

As many as six Assam Police personnel and a civilian lost their lives after Mizoram Police opened firing on Monday during the clash.

Assam chief minister had earlier claimed that Mizoram Police had opened fire with light machine guns (LMGs) that led to the loss of lives along the inter-state border. 

Meanwhile, Assam Police on Wednesday alleged that Rajya Sabha MP from Mizoram, K Vanlalvena’s media interview is “indicative of his active role in the conspiracy”. 

The Assam Police said: “Assam Police has already prepared a picture gallery, which is being further updated, of Mizoram Police personnel and civilian miscreants who fired at Assam Police. They would be brought to law.”
