In a positive development, Assam’s Dibrugarh University has become one among 8 institutes of the country to be awarded the Going Global Partnerships Grant (collaboration grant) by the British Council.
The collaboration is between Dibrugarh University and Queen’s University, Belfast.
The British Council has awarded the grant for the development of a transnational multidisciplinary course on strategic networks and computing through collaboration.
The key objective of the grant is to enhance opportunities for students in India and the UK to experience an international learning experience.
The other institutes, who were awarded the collaborative grant are IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Transnational Health Science and Technology Institute and Indian Institute of Science.
The British Council awards collaboration grants to pre-existing partners to expand the scope of work to include joint and collaborative teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The key objective is the development of a teaching and collaboration model, and a course or module that contributes towards UK and India bachelor’s or master’s qualifications.
Under the programme, the collaborative partners will be able to secure consultancy services from the UK service providers such as ENIC, QAA, and others.
Moreover, they will additionally be able to earmark a part of the grant to give TNE bursaries or scholarships to students to enable them to experience the UK education.
