Dipawoli Kurmi, a member of the Tea Tribe community has passed the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) exams with flying colours.
Kurmi secured the 35th position in the APSC conducted combined competitive examination-2018.
She succeeded in securing a berth position among the 135 candidates selected for Assam Civil Service.
Dipawoli Kurmi is the daughter of Jiten and Almoni Kurmi of Jokai Kaliani Gaon in Dibrugarh.
Her father is a permanent worker at the Sessa Tea Estate and her mother is a worker in a small tea garden.

Dipawoli who had always dreamt of joining the civil service said, “From my childhood, I dreamt of joining the civil service and hopefully my dream will materialize now.”
“I hail from a poor family and had to face numerous financial hardships since my early childhood. My father and mother have worked very hard for our family,” she said.
While preparing for APSC, Kurmi was also pursuing PHD in anthropology.
“In 2018 I cleared the prelims and the mains the next year. I am very happy for a securing rank and want to work for the development of my people,” she added.
Kurmi graduated from the DHSK College in Dibrugarh and was declared the best graduate in 2015 in the arts stream from the Dibrugarh University.
Later she completed her MSC degree in anthropology from the university and also completed here MA in Assamese through distance education.
Apart from Kurmi, two more students have secured ranks in the APSC-2018, the results of which were declared recently.
