Assam has registered 1,371 new COVID19 positive cases on Tuesday, taking the state overall tally to 34,947.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Tuesday night said a total of 22,876 tests were conducted in Assam in the last 24 hours, out of which 1,371 were found positive for the virus.

“Alert ~ 1371 new #COVID cases detected in Assam out of 22876 tests done in last 24 hrs,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

“Positivity rate continues to be low at 5.9%,” he said.

The health minister informed that out of the new positive cases detected in the state on Tuesday, Kamrup Metro district has reported 295 cases and Kamrup Rural district has reported 221 cases.

With the new cases, Assam currently has 9,454 active COVID19 cases.

A total of 25,402 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have recovered after they tested negative for the virus and 3 cases have migrated from the state.

The disease has so far claimed the lives of 88 people.
