In its massive drive against drugs in the district, Dibrugarh police on Friday night arrested five drug peddlers and seized 85 gram of “heroin” from their possession.

The peddlers have been identified as Lakhya Konwar, Kartik Phukan, Debasis Bordoloi, Raj Verma and Mohammad Udit Ali.

“We received information about them and conducted a raid in Boiragimoth area of Dibrugarh town and arrested them,” police said.

“We also seized 85 gram of suspected heroin from their possession. We also seized a car and Rs 5100 cash from them,” the police added.

A case has been registered against them at the Dibrugarh police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Recently, police seized 1.03 kg of cocaine, worth Rs 1 Crore from Milan Nagar area of Dibrugarh town.
