Jorhat Police apprehended a man from the Sivasagar district and recovered an assignment of brown sugar from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as 40-year-old Bubu Konwar.
He was arrested near a shopping mall at KB Road in Jorhat.
Bubu Konwar is a resident of Amguri of the Sivasagar district.
According to the police source, Bubu Konwar is wanted in many criminal cases, registered in several police stations in the state.
The source stated that 35 gm of suspected brown sugar, Rs 6,800 in cash, two ATM cards, three mobile handsets and a handbag were recovered from the possession of the criminal.
