The Northeast States of Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya are showing increasing trends in COVID-19 cases.  

This was informed by the Union Health Ministry. 

Speaking on the matter, Joint Secretary for the Union Health Ministry – Lav Agarwal said that Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya are among those states that have shown increasing trends in COVID-19 cases. 

Joint Secretary for the Union Health Ministry – Lav Agarwal said: “Some states are showing increasing trends in COVID cases. These states should take required precautionary measures. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Haryana, Karnataka Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya are among those states.”

Notably, Assam on Sunday registered as many as 2385 new COVID-19 positive cases at a staggering positivity rate of 10.01%. 

30 COVID-19 deaths were also recorded in Assam on Sunday. 

Meanwhile, Meghalaya on Sunday registered a grim record of the highest single-day spike. 

As many as 321 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in Meghalaya on Sunday.

Moreover, 5 COVID-19 related deaths were also logged in Meghalaya on Sunday. 

Five COVID-19 deaths were also recorded in Manipur on Sunday, besides 256 others testing positive for the deadly virus.
