Noted educationalist of Assam’s Hojai Subrata Chakraborty breathed his last on Tuesday morning at a private Hospital in Hojai.

He was 81 years old at the time of his demise. He was suffering from old age ailments.

Chakraborty was respected by each community for his enormous contribution in the uplift of education.

His works are exemplary for the society, he was an excellent sportsman, a perfect drama artist, an epitome of honesty and a disciplined teacher and was popularly called ‘Subrata Babu’.

He served for 13 years as principal of Deshvandhu Vidyapith High School from 1985 to 1998 and was associated with many other organizations.

His death was deeply mourned.

Talking to the correspondent, Tapan Kar, principal, Sankardev Junior College said, “The teachings and idelogy of Chakraborty Sir will remain in our heart, he was a true inspiration for the society.”

On his demise  Hojai District Asam Sahitya Sabha, Rabindranath Tagore’s University, Jatiya Vidyalaya, Sankardev Junior College, All Assam Minority Students’ Union Hojai district unit, Hojai Press Club, Hojai District Sports Association, Play Boy Sports Club, Deshvandhu Vidyapith Boys and Girls High School and many other organisation paid him homage.

His last rites were performed at Shantiban in Hojai.

He has left behind one son, two daughters and a host of relatives.
