Gandhi Mandap
The Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati

The Gandhi Mandap in Assam’s Guwahati is all set to go blue on the occasion of “World Children’s Day” on November 20.

Many iconic buildings across the globe will go blue in solidarity with child rights and the impact of Covid-19 on children’s lives.

This is being done as part of the #GoBlue campaign of UNICEF to highlight the issue of child rights amidst the ongoing pandemic.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan, Qutub Minar, India Gate and Gateway of India are some of the iconic buildings and monuments across India to go blue on the occasion.

In Assam, the UNICEF and Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA)  have joined hands to turn the Gandhi Mandap blue.

Guwahati Development Department minister, Siddhartha Bhattacharya and GMDA CEO, Umananda Doley will launch the #GoBlue campaign at the Gandhi Mandap on November 20.

Children from different districts of the state will present manifestos stating their different demands before Bhattacharya and Doley on the occasion.
