Newly appointed Inspector General (South) of Assam Rifles Major General Ravroop Singh during his meeting with Manipur Governor.

Imphal: The newly appointed Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), Major General Ravroop Singh, SM, called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Monday and apprised her of the prevailing law and order situations in the state.

Maj Gen Ravroop Singh was accompanied by the outgoing IGAR (South), Maj Gen Rajan Sherawat, AVSM, USM, according to a release issued by PRO Raj Bhavan.

The duo informed the Governor about the security measures that are being taken up by the Assam Rifles in the state.

They said the situation in the state is improving as security forces are maintaining strict vigil to counter any eventuality.

They also informed the Governor about the deployment of Assam Rifles in the state.

The Governor appreciated the efforts, and activities taken up by Maj Gen Rajan Sherawat during his tenure in the state and extended warm wishes for all his future endeavours.

Notably, over 80, 000 central security forces are being deployed at various sensitive places across the state for achieving peace.

The sensitive border state is facing fragile peace due to the ongoing communal violence between the Meiteis and Kukis that cost the lives of over 200 individuals and 60,000 people were displaced.
