The Bodoland University is all set to organize its 1st convocation on March 3 at the university’s Debergaon campus in Kokrajhar.
The convocation will be presided over by Assam governor and chancellor of the Bodoland University, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi.
A total of 3,195 students have completed their courses in various streams including arts, science, computers and MBA from the university.
The passed-out students will be awarded their degrees, original certificates by Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, said the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh.
Briefing to reporters during a press conference at his chamber in the university, Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Singh said, “The first convocation for the students of our students will be held on March 3, 2020.”
Prof Singh said, “Prof. KK Aggarwal, the chairman of National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi and the founder Vice-Chancellor of Indraprastha University will grace the occasion as the chief guest and will deliver the convocation address.”
“Assam governor and Bodoland University Chancellor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi will preside over the convocation,” the Vice-Chancellor added.
The VC said, “The UGC granted our university a 12B status last October and now we have to apply for the National Board of Accreditation for all-round development. So, we have invited Prof. KK Aggarwal, the chairman of the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi as chief guest in our first convocation progarmme.”
He added, “We will get suggestions, guidance, and advice from the chief guest Aggarwal and it will help the university in getting recognition from the National Board of Accreditation. It will also help the Bodoland University in becoming a reputed university.”
The VC urged the Assam government and the BTC to extend financial support to Bodoland University for its infrastructure development. He also appealed to the Assam government to appoint sufficient professors.
