A man was stabbed to death at a hotel in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Wednesday night.

The man who was under the influence of alcohol attacked three persons –Sunil Mondol, Bimal Gogoi and Monuj Sharma—following an argument over a pity issue.

They were working as a caterers in a marriage party.

Sunil Mondol was seriously injured in the attack and died on the way to hospital.

According to sources, an altercation broke out between them and the drunken man stabbed three of them.

Three of them got injured in the incident and they were rushed to the hospital.

The marriage party was going on at Hotel Sapphire where the altercation broke out among them.

Sources said huge cache of liquor bottles were recovered from the hotel where the incident took place.

According to eyewitness, the security guard didn’t bother to stop the drunken man.

“After the incident the accused fled from the hotel. We are investigating the matter and very soon the accused will be nabbed,” said a police official.

Sunil Mondol was a resident of Bihar and he stayed in a rented house in Dibrugarh. He is survived by his wife and a child
