Sensation prevails after some miscreants pelted stones at the house of an election agent of former deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dilip Kumar Paul in Silchar.

The miscreants attacked the house of advocate Babu Singh in Silchar on Sunday evening.

A team of police rushed to the area on being informed about the incident.

The incident has taken place after Dilip Kumar Paul, the former Assam Assembly deputy speaker, currently representing the Silchar constituency, filed his nomination as an Independent candidate.

Dilip Kumar Paul resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being denied party candidate for the Silchar seat.

Dwaipayan Chakraborty has been given BJP ticket to fight for the Silchar seat.

After the incident of attack, Dilip Kumar Paul in a Facebook post on Sunday night questioned, “Is Silchar’s reign of terror is coming back again? Is the healthy democratic environment going to be corrupted? Because some miscreants attacked the house of my election agent Advocate Babu Singh this evening.”

Informing that there were only women in the house when the miscreants attacked the house of his election agent, Paul said, “There were only women in the house. The house has been heavily hailed from seven to a half in the night.”

“They are trying to create an environment of panic. I have left the burden of justice on the conscious, gentle, cultured citizens of Silchar,” Paul said seeking justice for the incident.

Dilip Kumar Paul has remained vocal against syndicate raj in the Barak Valley.
