Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya has assured the people that Congress-led grand alliance will drive away the misery and fetch happiness for the people of the state.

Bhattacharya addressed an election meeting for Paneri BPF candidate Karuna Kanta Swargiary at Dimakuchi stadium in Udalguri district on Sunday ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.

He lambasted the saffron party for giving false promises to the people of Assam.

“The saffron party had assured the Adivasi community of granting ST status within six months of being voted to power, but till date the issue is pending,” Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya said.

He urged the people to vote for Congress led grand alliance in the Assam Assembly elections and be stakeholders of peace, prosperity and development.

“The Congress-led grand alliance has already swept the polls in Upper Assam and we are confident that BJP will be ousted by the people in the second and third phases of the Assam Assembly elections,” Bhattacharya said.

Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) chief Hagrama Mohilary came down heavily on the saffron party and asserted that if BPF becomes part of the Congress-led government in Dispur, it will take over the Bodoland Territorial Council.

“The Congress-led alliance wants a unified platform where every community will march ahead and inclusive growth and development will occur in Assam,” he added.
