All India Congress Committee general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Guwahati on Monday morning to campaign for the party for the ensuing Assam Assembly election.

The Assam Assembly election 2021 is slated to be held in three phases – March 27, April 1 and April 6.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was welcomed at the airport by Congress leaders including Assam in-charge, Jitendra Singh, and Chaigaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed.

After her arrival at the Guwahati Airport, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi directedly moved to Kamakhya Temple for seeking the blessings of Maa Kamakhya.

The Congress leader has been welcomed by the party leaders in Assam with Assamese gamosas.

Priyanka Gandhi will be campaigning in Assam for two days for the forthcoming Assembly polls.

According to the schedule, after offering prayer at the Kamakhya Temple, she will attend a cultural programme.

After that, she is scheduled to visit Sonari Gaon Panchayat in Lakhimpur district to address party functionaries.

In Lakhimpur, she will also launch a statewide protest campaign for unemployed youths.

During the day, she will also visit Mahapurush Madhabdev’s birthplace at Rangajaan in Lakhimpur district.

She will also pay homage to martyr Kanaklata Baruah at her statue in Gohpur.

On the second day, Priyanka Gandhi will interact with women tea garden labourers in the Sadharu tea estate under the Sonitpur district.

She will also pray at the Mahabhairav Temple in Tezpur and later address an election rally.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora tweeted: “Extending a warm welcome to Hon’ AICC GS Smt. @PriyankaGandhi on her visit, which further fuels hope in the heart of every last person in Assam, deceived by lies & fake promises in these 5yrs, of a new dawn of progress awaiting the State under@INCAssam’s rule.”

Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi tweeted: “Hon’ble AICC GS Smt.@PriyankaGandhi’s much-awaited visit to Assam is in line with people’s demand for Congress to come to power, shoving away misgovernance that robbed the state of prosperity & well-being. Wishing her a very warm welcome!”

Nagaon MP and former Assam minister Pradyut Bordoloi tweeted: “Assam extends a warm welcome to Hon’ble GS, AICC, Smt. @PriyankaGandhi & we are sure your leadership will pave the way for a progressive Assam. The day is not far when Congress comes to power, as Assam will choose unity & democracy against divisive governance.”
