A person was killed and another received serious injury in a road mishap at Kaliabor in Nagaon district on Sunday evening.

The incident took place at 5 pm at Haluwa village under the Kaliabor police station.

The incident occurred when a Bolero pick-up van (AS02-BC-9137) met with an accident after the vehicle was hit by a strong wind.

Locals said two persons, residents of Misamukh Pam, were on the way towards their home in the Bolero pick-up van of Salna Kalapani in Kaliabor.

The vehicle was loaded with bamboo-made walls.

“As the vehicle was moving towards its destination, unfortunately, a strong wind hit the vehicle and the bamboo-made walls fell on them and both came under the van in which one of them was killed and the other was seriously injured,” said locals.

The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Bharat Thapa and the injured has been identified as 35-year-old Uttam Kumar Chetri.

The injured was rushed to the Jakhalabandha hospital by the locals.

But from the Jakhalabandha hospital, he was referred to Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH).

The vehicle involved in the incident has been seized by the police.
