Body of a COVID-19 positive patient was recovered, under mysterious circumstances, lying in a footpath near the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.
Police recovered the dead body of a 54-year-old man from the footpath of Jalan Nagar area in Dibrugarh, Assam.
The body was later identified by the family member as that of Bhim Bhuyan, a resident at the Romai Tea Estate.
Recently, a post went viral in the social media that an ambulance driver Irfan Khan saved a life of a patient by providing him Oxygen in the ambulance.
The patient was none other than Bhim Bhuyan.

Sources said the ambulance driver had admitted Bhim Bhuyan, a COVID positive patient to the Don Bosco Covid care centre. Later he was referred to the AMCH.
“He was referred to the AMCH on May 28. But the patient went missing from the casualty ward of the AMCH under mysterious circumstances,” said a source.
Talking to this correspondent, Ambarish Borthakur, garden manager of Romai tea estate said, “On May 27, our staff Bhim Bhuyan found Covid-19 positive. He was shifted to Don Bosco Covid care centre and later was referred to the AMCH. On Saturday his family members went to Don Bosco Covid care centre to enquired about him and they were told that he was referred to the AMCH.”
Borthakur said, “His family members didn’t find him at the AMCH. We also enquired about him and couldn’t find a trace of him. Police found an unidentified body of a man from footpath near the AMCH road. Later, the family member identified the body as that of Bhim Bhuyan’s. We have asked for an inquiry about the matter to Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner.”

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
“I don’t know much about the incident. I have asked Dibrugarh SP for an inquiry into the incident,” Jha said.
Meanwhile, Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said, “We have started our inquiry. Right now, we can’t say much about the case.”
