A ‘Walk for vote’ awareness rally was organized by the Sivasagar district administration in the election district on Sunday.
The rally at Sivasagar town was formally flagged off by the deputy commissioner and district election officer Dr S Lakshmanan which witnessed participation from around 300 enthusiasts including government officials, senior citizens and youngsters.
The mega event titled ‘Walk for Vote’ was organized under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative to create awareness among voters with an aim to increase the voting percentage.
District icon and well-known singer Manas Robin who participated in the rally also addressed the participants.
The district ambassador also enthralled the participants and onlookers with two Bihu numbers during the course of the Walk.
The event was compered by SVEEP nodal officer Dr Protim Sharma while Election Officer Jagadish Brahma offered the vote of thanks.
The rally in Sivasagar began from the Boarding field and after traversing through main thoroughfares of the town culminated at the field again.
Similar rallies were also organized simultaneously at four other development blocks and 62 gaon panchayats.
