Assam Power Minister and MoS for PWD Tapan Kumar Gogoi along with Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa appreciated ONGC, Assam Asset based at Sivasagar district for improving production, future operational plans of the Asset and proactive CSR projects during their recent visit to Nazira on Monday.

The minister was also accompanied by Thowra MLA Kushal Dowari,  Mahmora MLA Jogen Mohan and senior officers from the administration.

The high-level delegation assured the ONGC of all support in its endeavour to foster growth and development in the State in general and to accomplish the goal of 10 per cent import reduction by 2022 as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dipankar Saikia, Corporate Communications,  Assam Asset,  Nazira said that performance of the Asset in the previous years, strategic initiatives being undertaken and progress of many on-going projects which would further upkeep the improving production of the Asset were highlighted in a lucid presentation.

The Asset has realized the targets in all critical areas and as compared to FY 2016-17 exhibited exemplary performance in terms of oil production, gas production, water injections, drilling cycle speed, workover jobs and Workover Index in the year 2017-18.
Oil and gas production increased by 1.1 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively, gas sales increased by 24.1 per cent, water injection increased by 26.4 per cent in  2017-18.

Saikia that the dignitaries were apprised if the fact that in 2017-18, ONGC, Assam Asset introduced many new technologies such as Porta Deck Mats, Hi-Way HF, Microbubble Drilling Fluid, LTSOBM, StimGun which helped the Asset to improve productivity.

It was also mentioned that as a part of the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030, ONGC conducted a technology meet in Guwahati which had attracted as many as 19 technology providers, who had presented 25 new cutting edge technologies. Among those relevant to Assam Asset are under evaluation.

The presentation also included the salient features of PEC (Production Enhancing Contract) being introduced in ONGC for enhancement of production. It was explained that in the PEC, the ownership of the fields shall remain with the ONGC. The main feature of the PEC is that the service providers shall bring comprehensive technologies to improve production at their cost.

A status on the tender for light vehicles was also shared with the dignitaries. It was explained that various relaxations like ownership of vehicles, experience, vintage of vehicles, etc. have been relaxed to help more individual vendors and unemployed youths to participate in the tender.

The Minister, MP and MLAs complimented team Assam Asset led by SD Maske, ED-Asset Manager and highly appreciated the overall performance of the Asset and wished it will perform even better in FY 2018-19.

ONGC, in its presentation also apprised about various ongoing CSR projects, especially in the field of education, health and hygiene, women empowerment, skill development, promotion of art and culture, protection of environment, etc.

It has been apprised that in CSR front, ONGC constructed 12,158 IHHL (Individual House Hold Latrines) at a cost of Rs 14.58 cr in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.

Assam Asset also provided safe drinking water in 32 schools covering more than 10000 children at a cost of Rs 1.07 cr. This initiative will be carried forward in next financial year also covering another 15,000 children of 50 schools at a cost of Rs 1.68 cr.

In its endeavour to boost Skill India, ONGC is providing Gate Coaching to 50 aspiring students from OBC and SC/ST community at a project cost Rs 19.95 lakh, ONGC Super-30 project, a residential coaching programme for IIT aspirants at a  cost of  Rs 66 lakh, high pressure welding training to 120 ITI holders, cutting and tailoring training to women with free of cost sewing machines, engagement of 659 apprentices including 55 diploma holders, water hyacinth project to train women to make handicraft products with the help of National Institute of Design.

As a part of clean and green initiatives of ONGC in Assam towards a Swachh Bharat, the company has provided Rs 48.78 lakh to Nazira Municipality for construction of RCC drain in Nazira, 8.26 lakh to Municipal Board of Nazira for cleaning by purchasing of two TATA diesel hopper tipper and 30 litre bins, provided 9 lakh to Sivasagar Municipal Board for purchase of 3 numbers of hopper tippers, 20 numbers of hand carts for garbage clearance.

To promote uses of Non-Conventional Energy (Solar) in the region, installation of 144 solar lights (Rs 24.19 lakh) at Nazira town, Galeky Chariali, Harmoti Garh are in progress. Proposal for installation of another 127 solar street lights amounting to Rs 21.33 lakh is also under process.

As a part of ONGC’s medical outreach, 20 medical camps have been organised benefitting more than 7000 people of ONGC operational areas.

Construction of ONGC’s flagship CSR Project, Chaolung Sukapha Multi Specialty Hospital is also going on in full swing. The OPD facility is expected to be operational shortly and first phase of hospital with 100 beds to be ready in current fiscal year.

Appreciating the CSR initiatives of ONGC, Gogoi and Tasa advised to carry out more developmental projects particularly in the ONGC operational areas of Assam for the inclusive growth of the society.

It was also informed that ONGC Assam Asset contributed Rs 399.61 cr as royalty to the State exchequer, Rs 349.79 cr as Cess and Rs 132.90 cr as sales tax in FY 2017-2018.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, SD Maske, ED-Asset Manager, ONGC, Assam Asset, expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for sparing their valuable time to visit the Asset despite their busy schedule.  Maske profusely thanked the Minister, MP and MLA for their support, guidance and valuable advices.

Speaking on social responsibility, S Maske said, “We have always been trying to contribute towards welfare of the society. At ONGC, CSR is not mere mandatory, but it is a call from heart. We are trying to do CSR in an equitable manner and as a social connect with the people.”
