The industries or factories are always considered to be the most vulnerable places in case of any kind of disasters, be it earthquake, fire etc and there is possibility of higher casualties during such emergency in these sites in comparison to other normal areas.

In view of this possible emergency situation during disaster, State Fire and Emergency Services in association with the NDRF, SDRF, and Civil Defence on Thursday organized awareness and mock drill on disaster risk reduction in Mangaldai Industrial Estate of Darrang district in Assam.

A 15-member team of the First Battalion of NDRF led by its inspector Jagadish Nath staged mock drill on fire safety, evacuation besides various sudden measures to be taken to minimise possible casualties during the time of disaster.

“This is part of our district-wise community awareness programme where we have been supported by members of SDRF, Fire Service and Civil Defence members,” Nath said.

More than 100 workers and members of security agencies of different industrial units functioning in the industrial campus participated in the event.

Dipsikha Saikia, Circle Officer, Mangaldai Revenue along with officials of District Disaster Management Authority, Darrang took part in the day-long programme.
