A case has been filed against the secretary of Lakhimpur district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parichad (AJYCP) Niran Baruah for threatening to kill Kumud Baruah, senior journalist and secretary of North Lakhimpur Press Club.
The student leader made intimidating calls to the senior scribe Monday morning threatening to take his life. In the wake of the incident, an emergent meeting was held at the North Lakhimpur Press Club under the chairmanship of its president Sailen Baruah where every member denounced the condemned the student leader for his act.
The meeting resolved to file a case against Niran Baruah and asked the authorities concerned to take stern action against him. The meeting also urged the central committee of AJYCP to take action against the leader for his act.
After the meeting the members of the North Lakhimpur Press Club went to the Sadar Police Station and filed a case against Niran Baruah. Individually Kumud Baruah also filed a case against the student leader at the same police station.
