The fighter won the championship after beating Tamil Nadu in the final round.

Wangchuk hails from the Gyankhar village in Arunachal’s Tawang district.

He is a self-trained MMA fighter, who received only one month of formal training in Ned Delhi before competing in the national championships this year.

“You can do anything when you put your mind to it! Tashi Wangchuk, a self-trained MMA fighter from Gyankhar village in Arunachal Pradesh is a symbol of that grit. He recently won the Amateur MMA National Champ 2021 in Light Heavyweight. We will support him for better training,” Kiren Rijiju tweeted.
