As the entire country is all set to begin the much-awaited COVID-19 vaccination programme for those in the 18-45 years age group, Arunachal Pradesh reportedly will not be able to take part in the drive that begins on May 1. 

According to report, Arunachal Pradesh will not be able to vaccinate its citizens in the age group of 18-45 years, “as the state is yet to receive COVID-19 vaccines from manufacturer”. 

The Arunachal Pradesh Health Department is reportedly yet to receive an update from the vaccine manufacturer, it approached, on the delivery of the vaccine consignment. 

Thus, citizens above the age of 45, as of now, will be vaccinated. There will be no vaccination for the people in the 18-45 years age group in Arunachal Pradesh.

“We will have to wait, as we are yet to hear from the vaccine manufacturer,” Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang was quoted as saying to The Arunachal Times. 

The Arunachal Pradesh Health Department had placed an order for 4.5 lakh vaccines with the Serum Institute of India, the manufacturers of Covishield vaccines. 

However, the Arunachal Pradesh Government is yet to receive a confirmation from the vaccine manufacturer. 

Meanwhile, over 1.2 crore people in the 18-45 years age group in India have registered for the COVID-19 vaccination that begins on May 1.

However, scheduling of appointments for May 1 onwards is not possible as yet.  

Registration for the vaccination drive that begins on May 1 began at 4pm on Wednesday.
