Representatives from Lifeline Express called on Capital Complex deputy commissioner Komkar Dulom on Wednesday and discussed the modalities for bringing in the train to Arunachal.
Lifeline Express is the world’s first hospital on wheels and the healthcare service is a joint initiative of Impact India Foundation, Indian Railways and Ministry of Health which was set up in 1991.
The train offers free of cost quality healthcare services including OPD facility, sterilized operating theatres, cancer surgeries and restorative surgeries for vision, hearing, clefts, orthopaedic, neurological, dental and gynaecological problems etc.
DC Dulom, while lauding the initiative said that the district administration is ready to extend all possible support to the Impact India Foundation (IIF) for the successful conduct of the project.
He accordingly directed Mandip Perme, the district medical officer, to work out the modalities so that the project is a success.
The project is scheduled to begin from February 17 at the Naharlagun railway station.
The DC further said that the project would be immensely beneficial for the citizens especially those who cannot afford to pay for such expenses.
“The availability of facilities like mammography will again be extremely beneficial for people as such facilities are not available here,” Dulom said.
“The mobile train hospital has conducted more than 1,46,046 surgeries and treated over 10 lakh patients in its OPD across 184 districts in 20 states of the country.
The hospital train aims to reach out to those who cannot reach a hospital and bring modern medical care to the underserved rural and tribal areas,” Deshpande informed.
The project would be the first of its kind in the state.
