Former Itanagar Municipal Council councillor Gida Kenyir along with a few other former Congress and Janata Dal (United) workers joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.

A formal joining programme was held at the state BJP headquarters here to induct Kenyir and others into the party in presence of state BJP president Biyuram Wahge, a press release said.

Besides Kenyir, others who joined the saffron party included former City Congress vice-president Likha Pada, former Congress Seva Dal state secretary Gida Majik and 19 other active members of the Congress and Janata Dal (United).

Expressing full faith in the saffron party’s constitution and ideology, the newly joined members expressed solidarity with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national president JP Nadda, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and state president Wahge.

Welcoming the new members, Waghe called upon them to be disciplined karyakartas and reiterated that BJP believes in the ‘Nation first, party next and self last’ philosophy.

While sharing a few images of the joining ceremony, Arunachal Pradesh BJP on its Twitter handle said:  “Under the leadership of Party President Shri @WahgeBiyuram ji, Smt.
