The heads of Itanagar Capital Complex (ICC) and Papum Pare districts in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday inspected the coronavirus (COVID-19) screening centres at Banderdewa and Gumto check gates.
The official also interacted with the health workers at the check gates of Banderdewa and Gumto.
The inspection team comprised deputy commissioners Pige Ligu and Komkar Dulom, SPs Jimmy Chiram and Tumme Amo and district medical officers Dr ST Kampu and Mandeep Perme of Papum Pare and Capital Complex respectively.
The team stressed on proper screening and monitoring of passengers coming from other states.
The team earlier visited the mini secretariat where in-charge medical officers, health workers, nurses and staff of line departments underwent district-level training on coronavirus or COVID-19.
Ligu said both the ICC and Papum Pare district administrations in coordination with health departments are taking up adequate preventive measures to screen the passengers at check gates.
The check gates where screening is being carried out are Hollongi, Gumto, Banderdewa and Kimin.
Screening has also been done at the railway station and Naharlagun Helipad.
Besides, issuing of Inner Line Permits (ILPs) to outsiders has been banned, said Ligu.
He further said, “The WHO has declared COVID-19 as pandemic and hence we ought to remain vigilant and fully prepared against a possible outbreak of the disease in our state too.”
Ligu also appealed to all people to create awareness among the citizens on precautionary measures of coronavirus, travel advisories and not to create panic among the denizens.
He also requested the DMOs and SPs to take proper care of the health workers and police personnel entrusted duty at the screening centres.
Superintendent of police Amo said, “We have every reason to be serious about a possible outbreak of the pandemic in our state too and hence we should strictly follow the government advisories on COVID-19 and precautionary measures.”
DMO Perme requested the people not to fall for fake messages being circulated through social media on COVID-19 and only to believe the medical bulletin issued by the health department.
He also advised all health workers to work with a missionary zeal to overcome the crisis period.
DMO Kampu also said the health department in ICC and Papum Pare is leaving no stone unturned to stop the possible coronavirus outbreak in the twin places with mission mode.
