The Nagaland Congress on Thursday appealed to the ministers, MLAs and MPs of the state to donate one year’s local area development fund towards the Chief Minister’s Fund to fight Covid-19.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K. Therie also urged the bureaucrats, heads of departments, contractors, officers, businessmen, and tax collectors to come forward to help in this time of need.
The Nagaland Congress president has also urged those who have been benefited from the government and the public during the last 17 years to contribute to combating Covid-19.
He said the others can contribute and donate whatever is possible to stranded subjects and fight back Covid-19 socially. They can contribute rice, vegetables, and humanitarian services, he said.
Therie said it was heartening to note that the civil societies and individuals are coming forward to join this endeavour.
Therie said he believed that when the chief minister appealed for donation, he meant to all individuals who have been benefited under his government.
“The budget belongs to them as it no longer percolates down to the districts and divisions,” he said.
“We must fight together. It is not a personal fight. It is for protection of all,” the PCC chief said.
He also expressed concern over the safety of the family members of healthcare workers at this juncture.
Therie said personal protection equipment is a cause of worry for doctors and nurses in the state.
Saying that testing kits should be used for every patient in question, Therie pointed out that accommodation is being arranged for medical teams in other states.
He, however, expressed happiness that the first and second batch of consignments of medical supplies already reached the state.
He added that money should not be an obstacle to protect the people from the current pandemic.
