Amidst the statewide lockdown, the Lohit district administration of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday launched ‘Mee Buddy’ app, an ultra-local online service delivery platform for the people.

The app has been launched to ensure delivery of essential services such as food items, groceries, plumbers and electricians at the doorsteps of the people.

‘Mee Buddy’ is an android-based digital application that will provide the people with an option to order essential items as well as services online at nominal delivery charges.

Through the service, the shop owners and other business units of the district can continue the limited and safe operation of their installations by registering themselves on the app and uploading their menu or supply items that will be visible to the consumers.

“It has been observed that there are multiple online delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato.

However, such platforms are totally nonexistent in the rural or semi-urban areas like Lohit,” an official report said.

“In view of the underlying dearth of such services, we have introduced Mee Buddy in the district,” it said.

“This would enable the rural and semi-urban masses of Lohit to enjoy online-based delivery of services at their doorsteps,” the report added.

Besides hassle-free and doorstep, the delivery of all essential items, the advantages of ‘Mee Buddy’ will include online payments which will reduce the requirement of visiting ATMs for cash withdrawal.

The nominal delivery price and most importantly less exposure to public places will reduce the chances of the spread of COVID-19, officials said.

It was informed that the delivery boys, as well as all other service delivery partners, will be routinely screened in order to ensure the safety of the goods and services delivered.

The packaging standards of the delivery items will also be continuously monitored by the medical team in order to ensure the safe delivery of the produce, officials said.
