Guwahati: A devastating fire engulfed Pareng village in Arunachal Pradesh‘s Siang district on Wednesday evening, reducing 24 houses to ashes and partially damaging seven others. Two people sustained minor injuries in the incident, but there were no fatalities reported.

The fire, believed to have started from an unattended pork-roasting fire, rapidly spread through the village due to the absence of a local fire station. Firefighters from Aalo rushed to the spot to contain the blaze.

District authorities, including the Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and District Medical Officer, responded to the crisis, providing immediate relief to the affected villagers.

Essential commodities were distributed to the residents on Thursday with the help of the Siang District Students Union.

The Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU) has announced a two-day donation drive to support the fire victims across multiple districts, including the state capital.

The organization has appealed for public contributions to assist the affected families.
