Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on Friday took stock of the progress of construction work on the Mora Tenga Micro Irrigation Project (MIP) at Chowkham in Namsai district.
Constructed in the year 1981, the Mora Tenga MIP is said to have the largest Gross Command Area of 1400 hectares and Culturable Command Area of 1200 hectares in the state.
Mein, on the day also surveyed the damaged intake point and channels caused by siltation over the years.
The Namsai water resource department has submitted a proposal for the construction of a new intake point and renovation of the damaged channels under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.
The DCM also inspected the progress of the under-construction multi-purpose community hall at Chowkham.
The community hall is spacious enough to incorporate 3 badminton courts inside the hall.
“The multi-purpose community hall once completed would encourage the youths of the area to get engaged in indoor games and keep themselves away from unwanted activities like drugs and alcohol addiction,” Mein said.
The DCM later also visited the Newlong Resort run by one Chow Shukawa Chowphoo, a local entrepreneur.
