Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu paid his respect towards the war heroes of 1962 at Tawang War Memorial on Wednesday afternoon.

The 40-foot high War Memorial is also also known as Namgyal Chorten.

The war memorial was erected in memory of 2420 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the 1962 war.

The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister on his Twitter handle on Wednesday stated: “Paid my respect to war heroes of 1962 at Tawang War Memorial this afternoon.  The 40-foot high War Memorial, also known as Namgyal Chorten was erected in memory of 2420 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the 1962 war.”

The Chief of Indian Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba, who visited the forward areas of Tawang Sector on Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh, also visited the war memorial at Tawang and offered respect to the war heroes.

The Admiral, while on a short tour was updated on the security situation along in the areas of Tawang Garrison in presence of Maj Gen Rajesh Kumar Jha, General Officer Commanding, Ball of Fire Division. Admiral Lanba, who is also the chairman, chief of Staff Committee was accompanied by his wife Reena Lanba for the two-day tour.
