The Indian railways has scrapped the tender for manufacturing of 44 sets of semi-high speed train set.

A company with Chinese partner had put a bid for these trains.

The Railway ministry on Friday said a fresh tender will be floated within a week as per Revised Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order.

The latest ‘public procurement’ order gives preference to local suppliers, TOI reported.

It has introduced a concept of Class-I, II and non-local suppliers, based on which they will get preference in government purchases of goods and services.

Class-I local suppliers will get the most preference in all government purchases because their domestic value addition is 50% or more.

They will be followed by Class-II suppliers, whose value addition range is more than 20% cent but less than 50%.
