Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will seek the United Nations’ intervention on September 26 to ensure COVID19 vaccine for all at an affordable cost.
Hasina is scheduled to virtually deliver her key speech at the 75th UN General Assembly (UNGA) on September 26.
She will also highlight the issue of the Rohingya crisis.
The pre-recorded speech will be delivered at 8 pm (BST), said Bangladesh foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Monday.
The foreign minister addressed the media virtually on various aspects of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the virtual presence of Bangladesh.
State minister for foreign affairs M Shahriar Alam and foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen were also present during the press briefing.
The Bangladesh Prime Minister will also deliver pre-recorded speech in a number of programmes.
The first speech is scheduled to be delivered at 4 am on Tuesday.
Like other global leaders, Prime Minister Hasina will join the UN General Assembly virtually due to the COVID19 pandemic.
A media report quoted Dr Momen as saying that the Prime Minister would highlight vaccine issue so that everyone gets access to the vaccine at an affordable rate.
In her speech, PM Hasina will also speak about climate change, migration, women empowerment and child rights issues.
The PM will emphasize that all must work together to address the global challenges, said Dr Momen.
Dr Momen said he would attend a number of events virtually apart from representing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in some programmes.
The 75th UNGA session began on September 15.
