With over 17,000 cases in the last 24 hours, India has overtaken Russia to become the third worst-hit nation by COVID19 pandemic in the world.

According to a media report, India recorded a total of 690,349 COVID19 positive cases till Sunday.

According to the data released by John Hopkins University, India has recorded the third highest number of COVID19 cases in the world after the United States and Brazil.

In the United States, COVID19 has infected 2,852,807 people while the death toll stands at 129,718

In Brazil, COVID19 has claimed the lives of 1,577,004 people.

India added a record number of COVID19 cases on Sunday.

According morning data released by the health ministry, the country registered nearly 25,000 fresh COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours which was the biggest single-day spike since the beginning of the outbreak.

In India, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state by COVID19 pandemic.

Till Sunday, Maharashtra has reported over 2.06 lakh COVID19 positive cases.

The state recorded at least 6,555 new COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra reported 151 deaths on Sunday, taking the death toll to 8,822.

With over 1 lakh COVID19 cases, Tamil Nadu has become the second worst-hit state by COVID19 pandemic in India.

According to the state health department, with 4,150 new COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours, Tamil Nadu’s total positive cases mounted to 1,11,151.

Delhi’s COVID19 tally inched towards the grim milestone of 1 lakh on Sunday.

In the last 24 hours, at least 2,244 people tested positive for COVID19 in Delhi taking the state’s overall tally to 99,444.

Globally, over 1.1 crore people have tested positive for COVID19 and over 5.31 lakh patients have lost their lives due to infection.
