The employees of Tezpur University have voluntarily contributed their one day’s salary to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to fight against Covid19 in the state.
The employees of Tezpur University, a central university in Assam’s Sonitpur district, took the decision in response to a call by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to contribute to the CM’s Relief Fund in order to fight against Covid19.
“In response to the call of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for Covid-19 management, employees of Tezpur University has voluntarily contributed One Day’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Assam,” Tezpur University said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Tezpur University employees have contributed a total of Rs. 11,34,930 to the CMRF.

“In total the University employees have contributed Rs. 11,34,930/- (Rupees Eleven Lakh thirty four thousand nine hundred and thirty ) to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Assam,” the statement said.
“I hope our modest contribution will help the Govt. of Assam in their unrelenting fight against COVID-19,” said Dr. Biren Das, registrar of the University while transferring the amount through online mode.
On Saturday, Assam recorded 40 Covid19 deaths and 3,571 new positive cases.
The new cases were confirmed out of 1,61,420 tests.
The overall Covid19 positivity rate on Saturday stood at 2.21%, according to the data shared by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district recorded a total of 199 cases.
Assam’s recovery rate stood at 91.77% on Saturday.
