Assam girl Roopchanda Sarma has received national scholarship in the field of theatre.
The scholarship is provided to eligible candidates every year by the Centre for Cultural Research and Training, under the patronage of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
It is given to encourage young talents of the country who are pursuing a career in theatre.
Roopchanda, who represents Assam, has achieved this scholarship for the year 2019-20.
Daughter of Deepak Sarma and Gunada Mahanta Sarma, Roopchanda is currently pursuing her Masters in Cotton University.
She started her acting career under the guidance of Guru Manik Roy.
A resident of Guwahati, Roopchanda is presently a student of Anjanamoyee Saikia.
She has also excelled in the field of dance and took part in various state and national level dance and theatre festivals.
