Imagine the likes of superman, spiderman and batman zipping across the skies of Guwahati and performing mind-boggling feats of derring-do a la the Avenger series.

No, this is not a Hollywood movie to be filmed in Guwahati but the dream project of Arindam Sharma, who has conceptualized a movie of this genre in Assamese.

Arindam, all of 22 years, believes that the people of the State will be open to the idea of a science fiction movie being made in Assamese.

“This is the first feature film of the sci fi genre to be made in Assam.  I have written the story, script,  dialogues and will be directing and editing it,” he said.

The movie, entitled ‘Advitya’, will be made under the banner of Krrishna Kraft Productions of Jorhat, which was established about a month ago.

The shooting will start in end May or June and is scheduled to be completed by 2020.

A graduate from Kaziranga University here, Arindam has completed a certificate course on filmmaking from Mumbai Film Academy and is raring to start his first directorial venture.

His earlier forays in this sphere was acting in a short sci fi VCD, ‘UFO Returns’ produced by Brojendra Nath Sharma in 2012 and directing a short film, ‘Love: It’s complicated’.

Arindam is confident that he can match the special effects of Hollywood movies.

“I will use the latest technology in visual effects, compositing tools, computer graphics, etc. to create something which will be different in Assamese cinema,” he said.

He hopes to rope in Chiranjib Dutta as the hero and Nipon Goswami as the super villain.
